Second Brain Starter Vault
A new Obsidian vault is an empty folder, which is the worst possible starting point for a note-taking system. This one comes pre-structured around Tiago Forteβs PARA method, so thereβs an obvious place to put a thought the moment you have it β and an obvious path for that thought to travel as it turns into real work.
Structure
- π Days β daily notes (
YYYY-MM-DD.md) as the single capture point. Events, tasks, and ideas land here first. - ποΈ Projects β action-oriented work with a defined outcome, split into active commitments and someday-maybe ideas.
- π Areas β ongoing life domains that need attention rather than completion.
- π₯ Relationships β profiles for the people and organizations worth remembering, with their context and history.
- π οΈ Resources β reference material organized by topic, including a folder for reusable prompts.
- π₯ Inbox β the unsorted zone, triaged into projects, areas, or the archive.
- π Archives β finished projects and retired areas, kept without cluttering the active work.
Get started
Clone the repo and open the folder as a vault in Obsidian, or copy the folder structure into a vault you already have. Everything is plain markdown with no required plugins.
